'Nunsense'

The latest dinner theater production at the WestEnd is a very funny and enjoyable production called "Nunsense" by Dan Goggin. Five uniquely talented nuns (don't get huffy - they're actresses playing nuns) put on a talent show to provide burial funds for some sister nuns who have died due to a culinary vichyssoise mishap prepared by Sister Julia, Child of God.

This witty and energetic show will appeal to Catholics, lapsed Catholics and anyone who likes to laugh. Five talented and vivacious performers, Sherry Domerego (the Reverend Mother, Sister Mary Regina), Sharon Frazier (Sister Mary Amnesia), Jacquelyn Levy (Sister Hubert), Sarah Moreau (Sister Mary Leo), and Liza A. Rietveld (Sister Robert Anne) portray the Little Sisters of Hoboken who operate Mount Saint Helens School. The musicianship of the pianist, Rob Blaney, particularly impressed my musician husband.

The food, as always, was delicious: spring greens with beets, olives and cucumbers drizzled with a creamy dressing, breast of chicken stuffed with spiced apples and raisins, vegetable medley, yeast rolls and butter, coffee, tea or ice tea, and served at intermission, key lime pie.

Corporate sponsor Dennis Pollman of Pollman's insurance, director Kent Johnson, producer Greg Leach, choreographer Bradley Miller, musical director Rob Woyshner, and all the performers are to be congratulated on a very fine show.

Because the show has proved so popular, the run has been extended through Feb. 12.
