Biography
Rob Blaney is an accomplished music director, collaborative pianist, performer, and award-winning educator. A passionate performer and instructor, he has worked at all levels of the Southern California theater circuit while building a parallel career in arts education. His credit span National Tours, regional theatre, and masterclasses with Hugh Jackman and Lea Salonga at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Between 2011 and 2026, Rob directed the celebrated Vocal Music Programs at Irvine's Woodbridge and University High Schools, serving each campus with distinction over his tenure. As a GRAMMY-nominated music director and vocal coach, he cultivated a championship-caliber student culture, guiding his programs to consecutive wins at the OC MACY Awards and OC Cappies, including Orchestra of the Year for 2022 - 2026.
In Musical Theatre, Rob has musically directed, conducted, and/or accompanied well over 250 productions, working with many leading theatre organizations including Theatre League, Sacramento Music Circus, South Coast Repertory, The Chance Theatre, The Norris Theatre, The Gem Theatre, The Buena Park Civic Theatre, The Curtis Theatre, South Bay Civic Light Opera, and Musical Theatre West.
Rob has taught Vocal Music in elementary, middle, and high schools, and classes in Musical Theatre at University High School, Santa Ana College, and Concordia University. He is a private audition coach and has served on the faculty for Five Days of Broadway at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and musical theatre camps for the Irvine Unified School District and The Chance Theatre.
